Bart Verhoeft

Bart is a self-taught artist, raised in Belgium and now living on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula.

His art leans into psychedelic writing, graphic forms, human bodies, band posters, symmetry, and design. He approaches everything through design — it all starts with an idea, then builds from there.

Big influence came from music posters in the 80's & 90's - Black Sabbath, Joy Division and Sex Pistol . That hard-edged art matched the music. He’s always been into rock and roll. His dad had a stack of records, and the album covers were part of what pulled him in. The art and the music were one thing. That’s what got him going.

As a kid in Belgium, his parents bought art — proper prints, boxes of them. He’d go through them one by one. That stuff stuck. He remembers getting architecture drawings for his room, just staring at them, thinking it’s wild how it all starts with a design. That made sense.

For Bart, it's all mixed in: the music, the posters, the bands, the prints, the sketching, the raw ideas.
